Come and admire the ballet of whales in our Polynesian waters!
Rurutu is the quintessential whale island, because the latter come for 3 to 4 months in its waters to reproduce a few hundred meters from the shores, and to wean their calves which are born there.
There you can come across humpback whales that can measure up to 16 meters in length, with immense fins. You might sometimes hear the love song of these majestic cetaceans.
If you want to observe them, you will have the opportunity to do so from platforms located in Moerai Bay, between July 15 and October 15.
For the bravest, dive with them with a guide-instructor. Their job is to respect the animal and take care not to stress or disturb it.
During their sleepy phases when they do not move, your guide will allow you to slip into the water as discreetly as possible, equipped only with fins, mask and snorkel.
You will then be privileged witnesses of a fascinating and unforgettable spectacle.
On the other hand, during the active phases of the whales, the observations will be made from a boat where you can photograph at your leisure the jumps and other aerial demonstrations of these acrobats.
If you don't have time to go to Rurutu, you can, for example, between August 1st and October 31st, organize a private trip to Tahiti with a diving instructor, in search of humpback whales.
Several service providers will be delighted to guide you in this great adventure in Tahiti and Moorea.
