Singular and beautiful
Tikehau, in the Palliser Islands, is Rangiroa's cousin, only 15 kilometers apart. Characterized by its oval shape, Tikehau, the jewel of the Tuamotu, is made up of several motu (islets) of white and pink sand bordering a splendid lagoon, of which only 2 are inhabited. A magnificent postcard setting.
The inhabitants of this atoll live mainly from fishing, fish farms and copra harvesting. Motu Hararu, Mamaa, Tuherahera, Ohini and Teavatia are the main villages on Tikehau. The atoll benefits from daily air service thanks to its airfield, inaugurated in 1977.
The Tuheiava channel is the only way into Tikehau lagoon, making it an incredible dive site. This sumptuous lagoon, described by Commandant Cousteau as the world's richest in fish, is the perfect place to explore the Tikehau seabed.
Tikehau's natural swimming pool, home to a variety of amazing underwater species such as eagle rays, tuna, hammerhead and grey sharks, turtles and dolphins, is a must-see.
Tikehau is the Robinson Crusoe of the South Pacific. It's pleasant to take your time and relax on its white sandy beaches, surrounded by coconut palms, or to go for a stroll, the wind carrying the echo of the waves breaking on the reef, while the golden sun tints the skin with its rays.
Tikehau Bird Island is a Motu home to numerous colonies of birds such as red-footed boobies, crested terns and blue-grey terns. Every visit here is incredible and memorable.
A walk through the village of Tuherahera, the capital of Tikehau, diving trips, excursions to a wild Motu, to the lagoonarium, sunset cruises, lagoon crossings to the pink sands, or a visit to a pearl farm... Nothing but fun on Tikehau.
Charming guesthouses, a beautiful hotel and a wonderful eco-lodge offer a warm welcome for a unique trip.
