The serene
Rimatara is surrounded by a coral reef and features a shallow lagoon with a unique pass that can only be entered by pirogue. Nature is still unspoiled here, and birdwatchers will discover a unique species: the Ura or Lori de Khul, with its shimmering plumage.
Rimatara has three villages: Amaru, Anapoto and Mutuaura, which make their living from farming and weaving. Three times a month, the cargo ship Tuhaa Pae II lands passengers and goods on the island using small boats. Rimatara has no shops or restaurants, but remains a warm and welcoming haven.
This island can be discovered through visits to archaeological sites, motu excursions and hiking. Rimatara is a tranquil haven for the adventurer in everyone.
