Tahiti Iti (Little Tahiti), known as the Presqu'île, is linked to Tahiti Nui (Big Tahiti) by the narrow isthmus of the Taravao plateau. La Presqu'île is a wonderful place to live, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. World-famous for its legendary surf spot, Teahupo'o is also a pleasant place to recharge your batteries and become one with Mother Nature. A number of interesting hikes are on offer, offering unique Tahitian experiences.
The “Te Pari” hike from Teahupo'o to Tautira by land can be completed in 1 or 2 days. This involves crossing rivers and cliffs, before camping on a deserted beach for the night, to discover the world of the Pari the next day, a place listed as a natural site and monument since 1964.
Amazing landscapes
Some excursions also offer a boat trip to visit the Pari cliffs, followed by a walk through the centuries-old Mape forest that discreetly shelters the Vaiatu valley and the deep Vaipoiri cave. A Teahupo'o legend is dedicated to it, a story of love and bravery involving Vei, a simple servant, and Vero, the daughter of a king. Our guides will be delighted to tell you all about this legend.
Wonderful hikes
Another hike leads from the Aiurua valley to the engraved stones of Tautira. Then on to the Vaiote valley for a visit to the Marae and a swim in the basins. The day continues at the mouth of the river with a visit to the Pahu (drum) of the Hono'ura warrior. Depending on the weather and time of day, the guide will also suggest a short visit to an underwater cave and the discovery of the first cliffs of Pari. There's so much beauty and natural wealth to discover on the Presqu'île, and the panoramas will take your breath away!
