Project Description

Pureness

Pureness

Stripped of a lagoon, it gives the impression that it has been pulled up out of the water with its mountains which culminate at 389 meters.

Rurutu is surrounded by cliffs overlooking the sea and full of underground galleries, caves filled with legends – a must see.

Rurutu, the land of “stone lifting” is as good as her Australes sister islands. White sand beaches, splendid bays, valleys of fertile and generous plantations… coffee, mangos, papaws, pineapples, litchis…

The Marae (sacred open air temple) of Vitaria

Rurutu, rich due to its legends and its tales has several Marae (sacred open air temples) of which the most important is the one of Atorani and its royal tombs.

From July to October, Rurutu is the home of the Humpback whales which come back to reproduce in its clear water… a magic snorkelling moment to share with these mammals which are as impressive as they are inoffensive.

Also enjoy a hike through the main village of Moerai to the rocky headlands and cliffs of the village of Hauti.

At your own pace you can visit various historic and natural sites…… These activities will make each stay in Rurutu a real mystical journey.
