What is your job?
I am taking care of reservations requests, mainly on the Italian market. I assist tours operators and travel agents suggesting them suitable itineraries upon guests’ wishes and I help them to find solutions when they need.
When Tahitian dance did take an important place in your life?
I have been dancing ever since 2010, the year of my first Heiva with the group Hitireva – my favorite one.
Indeed; it is Hitireva which gave me the desire to start dancing the “Ori Tahiti” (=Tahitian dance) and to be involved in it. My partner danced with this group for the Heiva in 2009, in the amateur category. I loved their performance. They won and came back to the Heiva the very next year, in the professional category (the winner of the amateur category is upgraded to professional category). So I joined the group in 2010 and danced with them for my first Heiva.
Since then, Hitireva participate to the Heiva competition every two years and I follow them in the adventure each time. Every time we competed to the Heiva, we stepped up onto the podium. Last time was in 2016, when we won the first prize.
This year, Hitireva is presenting a show every Saturday for five weeks during July/August at the ‘Arahurahu Marae, with the theme “E Parauparau te ‘Ofa’I” (which literally means “the speaking stone” as the author of the theme is relating the importance of the stone through our history).
