It’s hopping in the Marquesas!

Guesthouse, excursions by catamaran, 4WD, and diving…

On Nuku Hiva, Aniata will take you in her 4WD to discover the lush valleys of her native island. On the
Half Day tour enjoy a superb variety of landscapes along the road to the archaeological site of Te Aitua in
the valley of Taipivai, then to the beach of the picturesque village of Hooumi, formerly the most populated
village on the island. On the Full Day tour, discover Kamuihei, one of the most beautiful archaeological
sites of the Marquesas, where many stone structures, ceremonial and funeral sites stand alongside
extraordinary vegetation; after lunch at the renowned Yvonne’s (closed Sundays), visit the little museum of
Marquesan Arts, to brush up on your knowledge of this rich and fascinating culture.

Get a change of atmosphere with the catamaran A Contre Temps, a little Fountaine Pajot Mahe 36, on a
private full day excursion. 1hr15mn of sailing to the southeast of the island, where you can observe
spinner dolphins, spotted dolphins, and giant manta rays. The crew: Cécile, Joni and their dog Sika will
provide explanations of the Marquesan history and traditions during land outings in search of ancient
archaeological ruins.

The A Contre Temps also offers private day trips from the islands of Ua Huka and Ua Pou with the same
desire to share with guests their love of the Marquesas. As a reminder, lodging at guesthouses is
available for presale on these islands (Mana Tupuna, Pukue’e). Note: the itinerary for each trip will depend
on the weather conditions that day.

On Hiva Oa, right by Hotel Hanakee Pearl Lodge 3*, the guesthouse Joséphine Hiva Oa opened last year
with 3 large duplex bungalows, for a maximum of 6 guests each. It’s a godsend for families! Each unit has
2 bedrooms, a living room with a pullout couch, a bathroom, a small balcony with ocean view, air
conditioning and a free WiFi connection (limited). Guests at Josephine Hiva Oa have access to the hotel’s
facilities, like the infinity pool, bar, and activities office. The half board is served at the hotel restaurant,
buffet style for breakfast and as a fixed menu for dinner. Enjoy the comfort of a 3* establishment at a
guesthouse price!

Lastly, for watersport enthusiasts… a very good news with the upcoming June opening of the center
Marquises Diving on Hiva Oa! Run by a team of three young, motivated instructors all originally from the
Marquesas, the center will offer, in addition to the traditional diving services (introduction and exploration
dives), an original and enriching experience, combining discoveries by scuba diving or snorkeling of the
Marquesan sea bottoms of the islands of Hiva Oa, Tahuata, Fatu Uku, and Mohotane, with visits of
archaeological sites such as the great tikis of Te Iipona, the site of Taaoa, etc. A Combo activity that is part
of an eco-citizen approach to raise awareness about preserving this exceptional environment. Rates and
terms will be sent to you as soon as possible.
