Ono’u 2015: An Open-Air Museum

Of Tahitian origin, the festival’s name “Ono’u” expresses the action of joining one color to another and therefore, by extension, the meeting of colors in Tahiti through the art of graffiti. This international event was a resounding success in its first edition in 2014, with a total of over 1500m² of surface painted day and night at the iconic site of Toata. The city of Papeete was also marked with a wave of graffiti, and today you can still admire the frescoes and some huge graffiti murals, blending contemporary street art & Polynesian culture.
This year, the organizers are doing it all over again, but this time in the form of a Battle! Thus 5 local artists and 25 international artists from the 4 corners of the world (USA, UK, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Australia, France, Malaysia, Spain, New Zealand, and Sweden) have been selected for the competition, which takes place May 5-9.
On the program:
– Simultaneous creation of giant murals
– Lettering contest, on a 4m x 3m surface
– Creating a mural on a set theme
– Creating an artistic work on a 50m² wall location
And many more surprises…
