The wonderful turtles of Le Méridien Bora Bora

The wonderful turtles of Le Méridien Bora Bora

The protection centre for marine turtles located in Bora Bora was set up in the year 2000. It has been created due to the awareness of the disastrous situation of marine turtles in Polynesia.

This protective sanctuary for these marvellous animals was set up in Le Méridien Bora Bora, more precisely in the hotel’s indoor lagoon enclosing the Polynesian lagoon ecosystem.

This centre has become a real scientific observatory, a tourist project which helps raise public awareness in regards to the ecological stakes. It also has an educational program for the schools of Bora Bora.

Every morning at 10:30am at the sanctuary, a mini conference is organized in order to inform people about the various stages of marine turtles’ life – from their birth to their rehabilitation in the ocean. Recommendations in regards to these fragile and rare animals are also given.

You will thus have the pleasure of observing the wild turtles and also the joy of being able to swim whilst snorkelling in the lagoon.

The Ministry of Polynesian Environment and other public institutions make sure that veterinary procedures are respected.
